The currency pair had been trending higher over night

S&P 500 (Mar 13) INTRADAY Review Yesterday strategy worked well on a couple of occasions. We felt it was a fairly straight forward call on market behaviour in the aftermath of the QE extension announced as expected by Ben Bernanke on Wednesday. Profit taking and a refocusing back on the US fiscal cliff situation was always going to lead to a pullback after a month long rally. Our entry level at 1430.50 worked well after the 13.30pm US data release with the market then dipping back to find

Good news from the EU and China boosts risk tolerance

Review: The UK: S&P changes its outlook on the UK from Stable to Negative. Therefore we can expect a downgrade within the next 6 to 18 months if the UK does not improve its finances. Japan: The Tankan report revealed a negative situation for business in Japan. The negative undertone increases the likelihood that Abe will win the election on Sunday and that once again the BoJ will expand its programme of asset purchases. China: PMI came to 50.9, which was slightly better than the expected

The Eurostoxx traded within a narrow range throughout yesterday’s trade

EUROSTOXX 50 (Mar 13) INTRADAY Review The Eurostoxx traded within a narrow range throughout yesterday’s trade as markets noticeably quietened down following the FOMC-related volatility that marked the end of Wednesday’s session. Our yesterday’s neutral entry long at 2,609 was reached at 6PM GMT and therefore provided little value as a trading opportunity. Strategy US Retail Sales for November showed an improvement, despite the headline reading missing on consensus expectations. The headline

Spot Euro, Eurostoxx , FTSE 100, E-Mini S&P, Dax

Forecast for 14th December 2012 Spot Euro Euro holding above 1.3085 as we look for a test of last week’s high at 1.3127. It looks unlikely we can go any higher at this stage so worth exiting longs just below here and attempting shorts towards this resistance, with a stop above 1.3140 for a test of 1.3170/80. This was a high last seen in September and offers another selling opportunity but be aware that a break higher would then signal a move to 1.3244. If we hit profit taking today we could

Forecast for 14th December 2012 Hang Seng CE Index December contract Hang Seng China Enterprises Futures did break 11129 and major resistance in an over bought market but crucially we have not closed above 11200 which as stated yesterday was a requirement to then give bulls the confidence to embark on a fresh buying spree and target 11318/321. Above here we can stretch to 11424, possibly as far as 11567. So we risk a dip back to 11008 support, possibly as far as 10856 today. Watch for buyers
