EUROSTOXX 50 (Dec 12) INTRADAY Review The Eurostoxx remained within Monday’s trading range in yesterday’s session with the lows defined by last Friday’s low and the high – by the 2,600 handle. Our yesterday’s neutral entry short at 2,592 provided limited value as a trading opportunity given the largely range-bound trading conditions. As expected, the newsflow remained subdued as did macroeconomic data. Strategy Today’s economic calendar bodes for a much more eventful session. The European

S&P 500 (Dec 12) INTRADAY Review Yesterday’s strategy was stopped out – We went to press just after the news that the Spanish had formally requested the bailout funding for their banking systems that triggered a reasonably large positive reaction that took the S&P to a new three week high. Conditions then stabilised and the market drifted down to test our long entry level just prior to the US ISM Manufacturing data. This is where the strategy came unstuck as the data was worse than

The price was strongly rejected at previous highs of the year, prompting a technical sell-off which led to the index paring the day’s gains to finish the session with a loss of 0.12%. Our yesterday’s entry long at 2,564 was not reached. Strategy Final readings for EU member
